About GC17

The 2017 Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism (GC17) is one of VISIT FLORIDA’s annual signature events that brings more than 1,100 attendees together to learn more about the industry and network with tourism colleagues. This year, GC will be held at The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL on August 28 – 30.

The premier educational conference for the tourism industry typically attracts representatives from DMOs, hotels, resorts, amusement parks, legislature, advertising agencies and other suppliers to the tourism industry. GC17 gives attendees the opportunity to continue professional and personal development by featuring dozens of specialized speakers, and the conference is structured to constantly keep attendees engaged with their peers. The networking functions coupled with the educational opportunities make GC17 the perfect place for the state’s No. 1 industry to do business. 

In a continuous effort to support the Sunshine State’s competitiveness through tourism, the goal of GC17 is to provide return on investment to Florida. This is successfully accomplished if attendees depart the conference motivated and ready to implement (at least) three tips or strategies that they learned at GC17.

The conference is designed and executed by VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s official tourism marketing corporation. VISIT FLORIDA serves as Florida’s official source for travel planning to visitors across the globe. VISIT FLORIDA is not a government agency, but rather a not-for-profit corporation created as a public/private partnership by the Florida Legislature in 1996. For every $1 spent on tourism marketing, VISIT FLORIDA generates more than $258 in tourism spending and $15 in new sales tax collections, paid by visitors, not residents.

Through this public/private partnership, VISIT FLORIDA serves nearly 12,000 tourism industry businesses, including 2,700 invested Partners, 9,200 web affiliates and major strategic alliance partnerships with Disney Destinations, The Hertz Corporation, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Universal Orlando, Legoland, Brand USA, Busch Gardens and Simon Shopping Destinations.

VISIT FLORIDA has over 130 employees in Florida and an international team of contracted staff covering Canada, China, India, Germany, Latin America and the United Kingdom.
